With our initial forray into Ahn Qiraj, Mafia bested the first two encounters within the Temple of Ahn’Qiraj: The Prophet Skeram and Princess Yuahj, Vem, and Kri.

Mafia pulled off a Trifecta in downing all three major instanced bosses in ascending order of difficulty; all on first attempts for each boss; all in one night of raiding. With everything having been put on farm status, Mafia eagerly awaits the opening of the AQ gates for new content to master.
After an execute range wipe last week, we’ve been dying to get another shot at Nefarian. Many of us believed we would have had Nefarian last week if the instance had not bugged out on us where we were unable to reset the encounter. We came in confident with having Phase 1 down pat (we were able to consistently enter Phase 2 with no casualties even with the hardest of all combinations: Red/Blue). We backed up those words and took Nefarian out on the first attempt of this week’s raid lock. Everyone was up during the Phase 1 to Phase 2 transition and only 2 members were down as we transitioned into Phase 3. 1 shot, 1 kill. We hope to carry on this momentum on toward AQ. Expect more Nefarian heads in Ogrimmar in the subsequent weeks!

After revamping our strategies and perfecting Phase 1, the phase 1-2 transition, and reacting to the class calls, Mafia has managed to reach Phase 3 for Nefarian. Unfortunately even with 30+ up before the spawn, we had only 3 AE classes up, dooming our superb attempt up to that point. 30+ people were wiped out within seconds. Even worse, our instance bugged on us not letting us restart the encounter. Even with the bad luck, we’re confident that Nefarian will be slain within this week. We’ve mastered Phase 1 and the transition to the point where we have 39-40 people up for phase 2 every time. Expect to see a kill shot within the week!
After starting off the night on a great note by taming Chromaggus in only one attempt, Mafia finds itself facing Nefarian again. On our 2nd series of attempts ever on Nefarian, Mafia managed to push Nefarian to Stage 2 of the encounter. We’re all quite proud of our progress with the encounter in such a short amount of time. We feel as if we’ve almost mastered Stage 1 of the encounter and hope to see him slain once everyone comes back from winter vacation. The Mafia Family wishes everyone a Merry Christmas, Happy Hannukah, and Happy Kwanza!
After 4 execute range wipes, a 3% wipe, and a profanity-laced tirade on vent by yours truly, Mafia pulled itself together and took down Chromaggus. This fight is ridiculously complex, hard, yet also satisfying. I don’t think we’ve experience a fight where the majority of the classes have roles so important that if one or two screw up on their responsibilities, it’d result in a wipe. After working on the hound for 2 days, all of us were relieved in finally taming him.
Afterwards, we made our visit with Nefarion and took some screenshots like tourists. We took a few stabs at Nefarion and managed to take down roughly 30 out of the 42 mobs required to enter Phase 2. Not bad only after 3 total attempts. We left BWL and went over to slay Onyxia, letting Nefarion know what’s coming to him in the next week. Expect to see dual heads hanging from Ogrimmar soon!

After a 30% wipe with a 30 man raid (15 were asleep at the keyboard) on Sunday, Mafia’s been itching to get back to Flamegor for some real attempts at the fiesty drake. After Norrec pulled a Nutjob and a few pulling miscues, Mafia pulled the “Tank and Spank” technique to put Flamegor down. The fight can be described as tougher Magmadar, but it wasn’t too difficult compared to Firemaw. Mafia’s been on quite a roll with 3 raid bosses down within 4 days.
Chromaggus is next!

On the 3rd attempt, Mafia brings down Firemaw in one of the most coordinated encounters we’ve faced. After a few hiccups and false starts, all classes executed the strategy flawlessly, bringing down the toughest of the 3 drakes.
On a high from taking down the one of the hardest bosses in BWL, we proceeded to tackle Ebonroc. Ebonroc proved to weak to a pumped up Mafia raid and fell on only our 3rd attempt ever on him. The fight isn’t too technically difficult. What it lacks in tecnical difficulty, it makes up for it in length. We did enough damage to kill him 5 times over and then some.

Feeling lost and misguided, I, Ranker, decided to explore our vast continent in search of a higher purpose. Finding myself in Silithus I befriended a group of highly charismatic individuals. Communication was difficult at first but with persistence and an open mind, I learned more about their community and values. The more I learned, the more I felt a sense of “coming home”. I was at peace for once. Full of enthusiam and renewed vigor, I returned to my fellow Mafia members spreading the word that was passed on to me. Mafia had found its true calling. In order to prove ourselves worthy, we were instructed to make a pilgrimage to Ironforge. Our life mission to spread the word and convert as many followers to our faith.
And here below, we chronicled our adventures as new members of the Twilight Cultists!
After a week of less than stellar raid results, we pulled ourselves together and took out Broodlord on our 3rd attempt (after a 16% wipe and a 10% wipe). Who says 3k blastwaves and 8k Mortal Strikes were hard to deal with? Or the squirrely, which-caster-do-I-one-shot aggro? However, I think the best achievement of the night is getting from through the suppression room in about 20 minutes on average. It’s not so bad anymore.
Firemaw is next on the Mafia’s hit list! Grats to |
