Our hard work has again paid off!! December 18th marks our first Gruul kill. We had three Mafia first’s! First we were able to 1 shot High King very easily with only 1 death throughout the fight. We battle rez’d and had 25 of 25 standing when High King hit the floor minutes later. Secondly of course, GRUUL DOWN!!!! It only took one warm-up attempt to explain to the new people and to refresh the rest of us on our “shatter movement” skills. Second attempt was flawless!!! Third, and possibly most importantly: Grats to Hiddenagenda our current MT on 4/5 T4 and the first mafia with the 4 piece t4 bonus. The 2 and 4 piece bonuses are exceptional for druid tank’s and I could think of no better person to receive this honor. GRATS MAFIA! Gruul finally down!!
After months and months of preparation (read: gearing up) we finally made our way into Gruul’s for our first attempts on the High King Maulgar and his 4 buddies. After numerous attempts at positioning the tanks and getting the pull down perfect it took “3″ real attempts to conquer this boss encounter. Once we had everyone comfortable with their roles in the fight and the art of the pull was down it seemed to be a very easy encounter. The trick to it really lies within a perfect pull. FF tank and spank 10 seconds after “Go!”. The culmination of teamwork, preparation, and hard work have finally paid off for all of us. We have crossed into the 25man raids and will be venturing into Mag’s and SSC sooner than previously expected. We had a few people without internet and scheduling conflicts so at approximately 7p with only 4 of 25 spots available we brought in some SoftCore guys to help us out and fill in the holes! They raided with us back in the 2nd coming of the BWL days and I believe they were present for our first post-rebuild Nef kill. Once again SoftCore brought knowledge of the fight mechanics, good gear, and top-notch players to the table which definately aided us in tackling High King last night. Thanks to SoftCore for the strat help and support! Congrats Mafia!!!
With two Karazhan groups going each week now, and each clearing it fully, its time the Mafia gets into the 25-person raids! We’ve seen Gruul’s before as an impromptu visit, but this week, we’re officially going to give it a real go! For the time being, we’ll be attempting this on Tuesday’s and Wednesday/Thrusday we will continue to run two Kara groups to keep gearing everyone up. Great job Mafia, we’re moving forward to new content and making huge strides!
After a long reconstruction period we’re finally back, and progressing! We’ve downed Prince with the new crew and even a Mafia first, Nightbane! Gratz to all who made this possible, next up is two Kara groups, then Gruul’s and SSC!
After a 4% wipe to to Prince Malchezaar last week, The Mafia was eager to get a second shot. Immediately after downing the Shade of Aran we ran directly to the Prince killing everything in the way of our goal, success against Prince was our only option. The fight itself went much smoother then last week, positioning against the infernal went flawlessly. Prince Malchezaar was overmatched, his death came on the second attempt. Thanks to everyone who has dedicated allot of their personal time and effort the past few weeks in order to make this happen. With Prince Malchezaar out of the way, we now have our eyes set on Gruul.
Grats to Earthmonster on [Warbringer Battle-Helm]
For the past few months The Mafia has been focusing hard getting everyone to 70, doing the various reputation grinding and gearing up for the high end raiding content. In the next few weeks The Mafia will be working on recruiting some new faces in order to get a second, possibly third Karazhan group going. If anyone is intrested in being part of The Mafia, head on over to our recruiting forums and lets us know! In the past few weeks the progress in regards to Karazhan has been outstanding. We have pretty much learned the in’s and outs of most of the encounters in Karazhan. Aside from Shade of Aran, Netherspite, and Prince everything is pretty much on farm status. Last week we suffered a disappointing 4% wipe on Prince Malchezaar but I see no reason why he wont be downed later this week.
Three months ago, the Mafia, as we knew it, ceased to be. With Nefarian down and AQ 40 seeming to be just more of the same, a large portion of the guild began to burn out. For them, the game had grown stale, and our raiding schedule was beginning to become a burden on their real lives. In the end, a large portion of the mafia decided it was time to move on. Those of us that stayed with the mafia were left with a tough decision. To rebuild, or not to rebuild? We decided that Mafia was more than just a guild, it was an ideal. It was an ideal that none of us wanted to let die, no matter how difficult it became to keep alive. In three months, we’ve succeeded in taking a torn, broken Mafia that barely managed fifteen people for a Zul’ Gurub run, to downing Rag and Onyxia in one night. Its been a long journey, and we still have much to accomplish to bring The Mafia back to it’s former glory, but we’ve proved to ourselves that we can do it. Today, The Mafia has been reborn.
After the Gates of Ahn’Qiraj opened, the Mafia has been anxious to master the Ruins of Ahn’Qiraj, the new 20-man instance. However, with so many instances on our plate, we lacked the time to dedicate towards conquering the Ruins. We’ve finally managed to dedicate enough time to take down Ossirian the Unscarred. The fight is definitely unique, challenging and long; testing our staying power and alertness. Thanks to everyone who helped try to finish AQ20 over the past few weeks.
Grats to: Madbull on [Head of Ossirian the Unscarred]
With our initial forray into Ahn Qiraj, Mafia bested the first two encounters within the Temple of Ahn’Qiraj: The Prophet Skeram and Princess Yuahj, Vem, and Kri.
